Research

Drancing is Dr Darren Kelly's real-time gestural synthesis accelerometer music system (under development since 1996). A rapid prototype of "DranceWare" in the PureData/GEM audio/video synthesis environment has been developed for the Nintendo Wii as wireless triaxial accelerometer via Bluetooth.

This movie demonstrates combined Variable Fequency Oscillator (VFO), Amplitude Modulation (AM), and triggered Drum sample ("Drumming by Dancing") modes along with Drancel RGB monitor visuals projected onto the "Drancer" performer.
For this demonstration two hand-held WiiMotes on a MacBook Pro were used (the original Drancing sensor suit and Java DranceWare used 5 triaxial accelerometers in a "body star" pattern").
